Resumen
El presente artículo intenta profundizar a modo de biografía en la persona de Don Martín de Abel y Bernard y en su vida. Este hombre debió pertenecer a un linaje de la nobleza, pero no fue de las altas esferas sociales. Nacido en Cehegín a finales del siglo XVI. Su fama se debe a que recopiló todo testimonio oral y escrito que existía en la villa. Su trabajo ha sido objeto de estudio por diversos historiadores.

Abstract
This article tries to deepen as a biography in the person of Don Martín de Abel y Bernard and in his life. This man must have belonged to a lineage of the nobility, but he was not from the high social spheres. Born in Cehegín at the end of the 16th century. His fame is due to the fact that he compiled all oral and written testimony that existed in the town. His work has been the object of study by various historians.
